Dan Ihara, Keller Williams

Keller Williams – the largest real estate technology franchise by agent count –  has started training their agents to become Wealth Advisors.

This was shortly after their partnership with Bolt, an insurance company.

Dan Ihara, the creator and director of the program, came up with the idea to provide estate-planning services to average homeowners who may not otherwise think they might need advice on wealth inheritance.

For many older adults, their home is their most valuable asset, and some worry about navigating the process of passing their property down, he said.

“They’re concerned about their kids being able to manage their property: ‘My kids aren’t trained in how to build and transfer wealth,’” Ihara said.

Ihara continues, “This model is very relational, so I get deep with their families, and they tell me everything. I am here to bring a very holistic approach to serving this person,”

“We educate the next generation on compounding values, we show them how to build wealth. Many of them are still renting and that generation is very ‘spend everything you make,’ so we use the foundation of building wealth.”

Keller Williams, and many other real estate firms, are realizing that their clients have much more to their wealth portfolios than just properties.

Not to mention the fact that their clients have heirs, who – after inheriting all of their parents’ wealth – will become KW’s new clients.

This transfer of wealth is in the trillions of dollars.

The combined retirement assets of the Baby Boomer generation are north of the $50 Trillion mark, and the next generation is in line to receive this wealth.

Hence, Keller William’s push towards hollistic wealth management.

The firm with whom I’m partnered – PHP Agency – has done very well in creating a platform that real estate professional can use to grow and expand their practices.
